General information about bonds: Bonds represent debt obligations. Issuer pays coupons on predetermined dates, and at maturity returns back the face amount. To issue bonds at the local market, they have to be registered in the listing of Baku Stock Exchange. Bonds can be obtained during the period of Initial Public Offering (IPO) or through secondary market offerings. The most actively traded bonds at Baku Stock Exchange are SOCAR Bonds and the bonds of Ministry of Finance. In addition to them, US short and long term government bonds, Eurobonds, bonds issued by different countries and of different companies can be obtained from international markets. Issuers of the bonds are being rated by the rating agencies, and get proper ratings. Ratings is one of the defining factors of risk and the profit of the bonds.
